Hello & welcome to the Nantahala Forest and Nantahala Glamping. Many years in the making, our goal is to provide you with the best glamping experience in the Nantahala forest — as many amenities as could reasonably be expected, plus a few more.
Your dome has a queen bed, a pull-out queen Murphy bed, a love seat, a well-equipped kitchenette, and a full bath with toilet, vanity, and shower. NO pets and NO smoking inside the unit — a good time is required.
We sincerely hope you enjoy your stay, whether it's for one night or thirty.

Where We Are
We're in the middle of the Nantahala National Forest, part of the Smoky Mountains. The property is on Otter Creek. The idea here is to "get away" while still being able to enjoy everything the area has to offer.
On the drive in, you'll follow Wayah Rd. along the Nantahala River Gorge, with its turns, rapids, and waterfalls. Some of the best of the area: whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Nantahala River, trout fishing in the creeks, rivers, and lakes, and driving the scenic roadways — including the Blue Ridge Parkway and the "Tail of the Dragon." The mountains are unbelievably beautiful in the fall.
We're 10 minutes from Lake Nantahala, where you can rent a boat and spend the day on one of the most pristine lakes in the area, and 5 minutes from the Appalachian Trail.
Keyless Entry
The entry lock is a manual deadbolt — no batteries, no internet to worry about. To unlock, enter the code provided and turn the knob to "unlock" (clockwise), then use the lever to open the door. If you're just stepping outside, you can close the door without it locking. If you're leaving for the day, turn the knob to "lock" (counter-clockwise).
Codes are changed for each stay. Please lock the door on the day you depart.
Kitchenette & Crumbs
Please don't leave crumbs or uncovered food in the unit or on the deck for extended periods — it will attract critters. The kitchen is well equipped for the gourmet chef, so feel free to get creative with the amenities.
Should you find anything broken or not working, please let us know so we can get it fixed or replaced ASAP. If you don't tell us, we won't know to replace it for the next guest.
Bedrooms
Please use the luggage racks for your luggage — it keeps the bed linens and love seat from soiling. Do NOT sit on the luggage racks; they aren't strong enough to support your weight.
TV & Internet
At this time we don't have TV — that's by design. The internet is via Starlink satellite. The network is "nantahalaglamping"; the password is provided to registered guests.
Temperature Controls
Our domes are very well insulated, so it doesn't take much to heat or cool. The control is a remote in the wall holder. The ceiling fan/light is also operated by remote.
Fireplace
The fireplace is electric, with three settings: no heat, low heat, and high heat. Make sure the power switch on the unit is on — it takes a little time for the receiver to respond to the transmitter, so don't press the buttons more than once within 2 seconds.
Press the on/off button once to turn on the unit. Press the low or high heat button once for heat, twice to turn heat off. Press the dimmer button to operate dimmer mode; repeat presses raise and lower the brightness.
Windows & Skylight
The three lower slider windows are operable — please make sure they're closed when you're not in the dome.
The skylight can be opened too. The remote is mounted on the wall between the bedroom and kitchen; press the up arrow once to open (it moves slowly, so don't keep pressing). It has an auto-close feature in case of rain.
Toilet
We're on a very sophisticated and sensitive septic system — please don't flush anything that shouldn't be flushed. We've included various toiletries you may need (or may have forgotten) — they're here if you need them.
Emergency
Please make sure your cell phone has Wi-Fi calling enabled, as there's no cell service in this part of the mountains. For any medical emergency, dial 911. For fire, dial 911 after exiting the unit, then call us. There's a fire extinguisher and a smoke alarm in the kitchen, along with a first aid kit.

Grocery
We're in a dry county — it's not as bad as it sounds, but it is a bit of a drive to the nearest grocery store, so we highly suggest stopping on the way in to stock up.
Ingles Market — 19 Main Street, Andrews, NC (28 min, 19 miles). Closest big chain grocery store; limited selection.
Ingles Market — 2060 US 19, Murphy, NC (41 min, 31 miles). Our go-to grocery — decent selection if you're looking for something special, and they have a Starbucks.
Ingles Market — 1257 Georgia Rd, Franklin, NC (50 min, 29 miles). The best grocery within an hour, pretty much has it all including a Starbucks. It's a bit more of a drive over the mountain on a very windy road, but Franklin is one of the quaint little mountain towns worth visiting.
Power Outage
There's usually no reason to call the power company if the power goes out — they know when it's out and are fast to restore it. If you want to call anyway, that's fine: Duke Energy — 800-769-3766.
Check-In & Check-Out
Check-in is after 3:00 PM; check-out is 10:00 AM. Before you leave, a few things help us prepare for the next guests: wash any used dishes, cookware, glasses, and utensils and leave them to dry; gather all trash and place it in the outside bin; and check that all windows and doors are closed and locked.
Wildlife & Insects
These are the mountains, and we have a fairly good selection: deer, black bear, otter, beaver, bobcat, and coyote are all here, and sightings are fairly common. During certain times of year there are various insects — we've provided bug spray if you need it.
